👩🏻‍🏫 Advice for Astrology beginners 🌌🐣

1. Wheel charts ✅ Table charts ❌

When you start learning, use websites that show a wheel chart, not a table. I know most of us start with Cafe Astrology, I did too. However, a table can be quite confusing and forms an unsteady foundation to your astrological knowledge. A chart is a circle, and only a wheel can capture the nuances of a chart. It helps visualize the placements WAY better. Avoid 🛑Co-Star🛑 and Cafe Astrology’s table chart link.

2. Start with Whole Sign House System, you’ll thank me later!!! 🌐

[Disclaimer: Both systems are valid in terms of accurate delineations. You will most likely resonate with both placements (only a few will be different). This is not about validity or accuracy. It’s about clarity.]

Placidus confuses people. And I know why it does because it used to confuse me too. It’s much easier to learn the basics of reading a chart when you’re learning with Whole Sign. Placidus will leave you confused when you have Saturn in gemini, gemini in 12H but Saturn in 11H 🥴

Whole Sign is neat & clear. It helps visualize the basics better. Once you get comfortable with the basics of whole sign, you can start learning the way Placidus functions. THEN you can decide which one you prefer: one of them, both, or even none! (There are many house systems)

3. Move with curiosity, not fear 🧐💭

There are people who say stuff for shock factor. It gets engagement. Don’t allow them to fear monger you. Astrology is never black and white. There are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ placements. Yes, some placements flow better and others may face conflicts. Even so, you can deal with the conflict. Remember that one placement can manifest in multiple ways, not just one.

The same goes for transits. Sometimes we are conditioned to believe that one transit can only manifest in one way. However, this is FAR from the truth. There are many variables in astrology: planets, houses, signs, degrees, aspects, and MANY more…So the idea that one transit can only manifest in one way is just absurd and incorrect. Remember this the next time you see a transit/placement that scares you. Acknowledge that your fear and personal bias is making you see only one small possibility, instead of the hundreds…

Astrology is meant to increase our understanding of our life, not evoke fear of it. The next time someone says that ‘12th house profections are bad and scary’ or ‘saturn returns are bad and scary’ or some other generic statement, remember that we all experience things differently. And the beauty lies in the uniqueness of our life. Just because one person (or even multiple people) experienced a transit in one way, doesn’t mean it will be the same for you.

4. Have multiple sources of information 🎒💻📚

My best astro tip is to use Pinterest. This is for one simple reason: it shows information from multiple sources in one place. You type in ‘moon in 8th house’ and you see many posts on it. This allows you to compare information. Very helpful!

Similarly, have other sources so you can learn and share information. Our twitter astro community is lovely. We have podcasts like the OG “The Astrology Podcast”. We have youtubers, books, articles, etc. Engage with the community to find more sources and learn different opinions 👥 This will also help you understand your base-level philosophy behind Astrology. The foundation of your learning and practice. You will learn as you go…✨
